Eric Church

Eric Church has probably the most country voice I've ever heard. He sounds like a redneck hillbilly no joke. But that's what makes his songs so fun to sing along too because you get to have a really strong country accent. My favorite song by him is Springsteen which is probably a lot of people's favorites since its so popular but I don't care. It's popular because its absolutely fabulous. It reminds me of summer every time I hear it which is another reason why I like it so much. It's a lot different from his other songs because they sound so insanely country and this song isn't exactly. Overall I love Eric church and all his songs. He sounds exactly what people think country sounds like.

The Band

I really like The Band. It's so freaking cool how they made The Big Pink album. It's so amazing how they can take a different line of lyrics from different people and make a legit song. In my opinion, I think they sound better live than recorded which is really weird considering it's usually the other way around. When you watch them live, you can see the passion in their face and they way they play their instruments which is a really great quality in a band. In their song "The Weight", the lady's voice when they perform it is DROPDEAD BEUTIFUL. I love the guy's voice who songs that song because it has a country twang to it.

It's a bummer how the band members have died because I would really enjoy listening to more of their work.

Mumford & Sons

Recently Mumford & Sons came out with their new album Babel. I liked a handful of their songs before but once I heard Babel I immediately fell in love. They have kind of a medieval sound to them I think. Their lyrics are so beautiful and all the songs on the album are really chill, which is why I like it so much. My favorites are "Not With Haste" and "Whispers In The Dark". In the song "Not With Haste" the chorus is:

"We will run and scream, you will dance with me. We'll fulfill our dreams and we'll be free. We will be who we are and they'll heal our scars and we'll be far away. "

Not only this song, but I feel like all their songs have a deeper meaning and I feel like they speak what they think and are passionate about it. That is why they are such a fantastic band.

Two Door Cinema Club

Everyone got really into Two Door Cinema Club after seeing them at ACL. I didn't go to ACL but I wanted to see what everyone was freaking out about so I listened to a couple songs on their album Tourist History and they were freakishly good. The instrumentals in all their songs are so good. It sounds like an electric guitar, which is what is probably is, but I can't tell. I love the main singers voice also, it's so unique and there's not another artist who sounds like him. "What You Know", "Undercover Martyn", and "Come Back Home" are my favs on this album. The thing with Two Door is that I can't really listen to a full album at one time because all their songs are similar sounding and I can only take so much at one time. But a couple songs in one listening will blow your mind.

What You Know

Undercover Martyn

Cream

The first time we listened to Creme in class I didn't like them at all whatsoever. Their songs seem like they go on forever but they're actually just 2 minutes long. I think another reason for this is because all their songs sound the same, there's no variety. They have no "spunk" to them which is something bands should have. But I they were a little better in their next album.
Unlike the first album, I could, some what, stand to listen to them. The songs had a little different sounds to them and they weren't as boring as the first album. I still didn't like it though because they just seem like an average sounding band and they don't do anything for me. They're not exciting, just boring and dull.  Granted it's very impressive how they make their band sound like there's about 5 people in it when there's actually 3.  I'll give them props for that, but their music is just not appealing to me.

Sleepy Time Time is on their first album, Fresh Cream, and it makes me want to go sleepy time time.

Strange Brew is on the second album and it definitely has a different sound than the first album.

RED

You probably don't like Taylor Swift and I can see why but I absolutely love her more than anyone else. I was always a fan of hers but last year when I went to her concert was when I became obsessed with her music. By far my favorite female artist. She is crazy successful teenager who has accomplished so much more than a lot of older artists. Not only that, but she's a huge inspiration to me as long as many other girls. Yes, all her songs are about breakup but I feel like that's what a lot of girls like about it. You can listen to her if you're mad, sad, happy because she has a song about basically everything involving boys. Anyways, she came out with her new album Red and it is the most amazing thing I've heard, favorite album of hers by far.  A lot of my friends that I've talked to about it have said "it's not country". You're right, it's not country (it's listed in the country section on iTunes though, don't know why) but that doesn't make it bad, Taylor Swift is just trying new things with her music. This album has a lot of songs that are nothing like she's ever wrote before and I feel like it's a start of a new Taylor. That sounds cheesy but oh well. Taylor Swift never fails to amaze me and I'm so ready for a new album again but that probably won't be for a while.

Pink Floyd & The Doors

I have heard of muliple people being obsessed with Pink Floyd but I've never listened to them because I thought they were some old classic rock band. But they're not at all like I expected. I actually like them a lot, and they're really similar to some of the bands I listen to. They remind me of Radiohead a lot by the way the lead singer sounds. I just think it's a little weird what some of the lyrics in their songs are. I'm pretty sure I could make better lyrics than them, but they make their strange lyrics sound amazing. I really enjoyed Pink Floyd and I'm definitely going to be looking them up on Spotify.

The Doors I did not like at all. Their songs were too long, the instruments are a lot louder than the vocals, and they were a little too jazzy for me.  You can't hear the the singing unless you turn up the music really loud but then the instruments are blaring at you which is not enjoyable to me.  I feel like they could be good, if they didn't have this problem. I'm also not a fan of long songs, especially rock ones because, to me, it feels like it's the same sounds over and over again and it goes on for ages.

Radical Face- Make Up Blog

Radical Face is a great band, starting with the name. I mean it just sounds so hipster and cool/radical. I feel like they're one of the bands that goes to ACL as a band that no one really knows about but then after, everyone gets obsessed with them because they're so great, like NEEDTOBREATHE this year.  The reason why I like them so much is because of the way Ben Cooper, the lead singer, sounds. He has a really creepy voice and in their songs the vocals are quieter than the instrumentals which gives it more of an eerie sound. But that also kind of bothers me how it's quieter because then I have to turn it up louder to hear the words and the music in the background is just blaring, which is a little obnoxious but it's whatever. Overall, whenever I'm looking for new music I always go check out some of the songs I haven't listened to and literally everytime I find 5 more songs that I love.

Night Train- Make Up Blog

I did one of my earlier posts on Jason Aldean, who is, if you don't remember, my all time favorite country singer. A few weeks ago he came out with a new album called Night Train and I am IN LOVE WITH IT. Seriously it's basically the only thing I've been listening to since it came out. I think I get tired of it so I start listening to other things, then a song from the album comes on while my iPod is on shuffle and it blows my mind so I just end up listening to the album again. His voice is like Jesus singing and the songs on this album are so incredibly beautiful. It has to be my favorite album of his because the songs are so sweet and it's also a lot of slower country which is my favorite type. Some people would say, "it sounds the same as his other albums" and it does in a way, but to me it sounds newer. For example, in the song "Staring At The Sun" he uses a lot of metaphors which makes the song a lot more specical than some of his older stuff. If you listen to country music I'd be surprised if you haven't heard it and if you haven't you're seriously missing out.

Hero Of War- Make Up Blog

There are few songs that have a really strong meaning to me. I love music but there are only a few songs that I feel like have a lot of passion in them. Hero Of War by Rise Against is a very powerful song to me. It's about a soldier in war and it paints such a vivid picture in my head of what it was like it's insane. I've never had a song do that to me before. No, no one in my family has died in war, but my Grandad was a Naval Avaitor so he didn't have to worry about all the killing going on down on the ground but I've seen multiple army movies so I can kind of see what it's like. But this song is so deep and depressing because it really shows what soldiers have to go through sometimes, killing women, killing people that matter to others and it really effects me and my perspective on wars.

AWOLNATION- Make Up Blog

The only song I knew from AWOLNATION was their most popular song Sail, which is an amazing song, I've never heard a song like it and I immediately fell in love with it.  It has such a cool sound to it, so I expected the other songs from that same album, Megalithic Symphony, to be similar to it in a way. But the first time I listened to the album I didn't like it because it's nothing what I expected it to be.  Recently though I heard the album again and I loved it. Their songs are like techno- alternative and alternative rock. Granted some of the songs on the album are just 30 second noises, the ones that are actually sung are amazing.
Kill Your Heroes is a favorite

This song had to grow on me because I'm not a big hard rock fan and in it the guy sounds like he's yelling, but it's a great song.

The White Panda

I'm not a huge fan of remixes of songs, but I really like mashups, a lot. I find them so fasinating and cool, not to mention they get me pretty pshyced up. The White Panda is a DJ who mashes songs. But what I really enjoy about him is that he takes the instrumentals from one song and the vocals to another song, and mixes them. They sound SUPER GOOD.  One of the reasons why I like it so much is because I can still sing along to the song, unlike other mashups that takes a little bit from a ton of songs and mixes them. The White Panda makes the song sound like a brand new piece of work which is what I find truly astonishing and absolutely awesome.

One of my favorites, M83's song "Midnight City" with Kanye West's "Good Life

Tom Petty and Notorius B.I.G. Two totally different genres, one amazing song.

Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix reminds me of the movie School of Rock because when I think of that movie I can always imagine Jack Black screeching a song away and going hard on his guitar. Jimi definitely is one crazy awesome guy who I feel like changed rock and roll. Before him, no one really did crazy electric guitar stuff (or everyone out of the people we listened to in class). The only band that was closest to Hendrix's ability was Creme, but I didn't like them at all. I feel like Jimi keeps it fresh with his music and his guitar talent sets a new standard for rock and roll.  All rock and roll that I think of today, is about the insane keys and sound of the electric guitar, and Jimi Hendrix definitely brought that ingredient to the table. I feel like Hendrix was the turn to the more modern sounding Rock, or at least what I think of to be rock.

When I think of Jimi Hendrix I always think of some hard core rock band and that's Aerosmith to me. I don't listen to them, but I've heard a few of their songs and this song could be a bad example of it, but the point I'm trying to get at is that Hendrix's guitar work was shown in many bands after him.

Ed Sheeran- Make Up Blog

Whenever you hear the name Ed Sheeran what do you think of? I think of an angel because he most definitely sounds like one. Anytime I hear one of his songs my heart melts a little because his voice is absolutely stunnning.  He has such a soft sound, I can't even put into words how amazing he sounds you just have to listen to him. And another thing, he sounds like he would be a super hot guy with dark brown straight hair who likes to sing chill songs but no he's actually a ginger who's super pale. My mind was blown when I saw a picture of him. His music is so incredibly chill and beautiful, I'm pretty sure if you don't like acoustic music you will love him. What is not to love.

Fall is one of my favs
He did a song with Taylor Swift on her new album and once I listen to this song I have to listen to it a couple times again because it's so amazing

Dubstep- Make Up Blog

I've have tried over and over and over again to listen to dubstep to make myself like it but it is useless. I cannot stand it. All my friends listen to it but everytime it gets to the part where all the techno noises are going my head feels like it's going to explode from the annoying-ness. I think I could make music that sounds better than it and I'm not musical at all whatsoever.  Dubstep sounds like cassete tape when all the actual tape gets pulled out and messed up. It takes no talent to make. Like congragulations you put a whole bunch of random noises together, claps to you, now I have a headache. The only thing I like in dubstep is the bass drops, they're pretty cool. But then after the bass drop when the music goes on for the rest of the song, there's no need for that. I probably don't like it as much because I like vocals in songs, and I don't have less respect for you if you like it, but definitely not my cup of tea.

One of the most famous Dub makers of the decade, Skrillex. 1. you can't understand what is being said. 2. what does this video have to do with anything. 3. may need to take some aspirin after listening

Lee Brice- Make Up Blog

I mainly write about alternative rock bands and I absolutely love that stuff but I am an enormous country music fan like you don't even know. And one of my favorite singers is Lee Brice. His voice is absolutely gorgeous every time I listen to him I fall in love. Seriously I would marry his voice if I could. He can make it deep, high and sometimes it has a little scratchy sound to it. Another reason why I like him so much is because I feel like his songs have a lot of meaning to him and he writes about things he cares deeply about. Like in his song "I Drive Your Truck" it's about him driving his father's truck who has died and it is such a sad and meaningful song. Everytime I listen to it I can picture a 17-18 year old boy driving this tan, beaten up, one door Chevrolet truck driving in the country. His lyrics are so beautiful and poetic they're like no other country artist's and that is what makes him so special to me.

All time fav, one of his most popular songs Hard To Love
