Janice Joplin and Faith Hill

Janice Joplin orginally sang the song called "Take Another Piece Of My Heart".  When we listened to this, I immediately recognized the lyrics, but not the melody and her voice.  Her voice makes the song sound angry and her voice is shrieking.  It sounds like she's literally ripping out your heart. Very violent. Then Faith Hill came and re-did the song and it sounds totally different.  Faith Hill's version is the one that I've heard before. It's more of a happy, love song. They're 2 totally different sounding pieces, I'm surprised they're even the same song.  Yes, Faith Hill didn't do the same thing as Janice with the song, but maybe she interpretted it a different way.  I can never see Faith being angry, and in the live performnace, Janice looked plain frightening.  But I feel like Faith sings more of love songs, and the way she sang "Take Another Piece Of My Heart" fits the type of music she sings.  Now I don't know anything about Janice's other pieces, but she made the song sound passionate and she definitely put a lot more feelings into it.  If I were to just listen to one of the pieces for pleasure, Faith Hill no competition.  But which song fits the lyrics better? Janice Joplin definitely.
